We are excited for your interest in joining the Youth Ambassador Board for the 2017-18 school year! Please read below to learn more about the program and expectations for YAB members and apply below! 


As a member of YAB, we ask that you make the board a priority. It requires a high level of commitment throughout the year so please be mindful of your other commitments as you make the decision to be a part of YAB. You will be required to attend at least 6 of the 8 monthly YAB meetings and are encouraged to attend all meetings.

Time Commitments

  • Full Board Meeting: Meets once a month for 2-3 hours (Saturday or Sunday)

  • Committee Meetings: Meets at least three times a month (times determined by committee)

  • EFLI/ YAB Events: Throughout the year

  • Internship: Weekly hours (approx. 4/week) in the EFLI office (see descriptions below for more detail)


All YAB members will be asked to help fundraise for EFLI to become self sustaining. The last two years of YAB have met their fundraising goals! You can too! All YAB members will participate in a training session that will provide you with skills and tips about how to fundraise effectively and efficiently.

Committee Descriptions


As a member of YAB’s Outreach committee, you will serve as the liaison between EFLI, YAB, and the community. You will help spread the word through various avenues, such as:

  • Involving the larger community

  • Reaching out to like minded organizations in our community

  • Continue to foster relationships with current EFLI partners

YAB Outreach will host various events throughout the year (ex. information session at your school) as an ambassador for EFLI, and help spread the word through various marketing techniques, inviting friends, encouraging donations, answering questions and sparking interest about EFLI.


As a member of YAB’s visioning committee, you will help create the vision for the future of EFLI. This year, EFLI is setting out to rebrand and we need your help! Some responsibilities for the visioning committee include:

  • Brainstorming for future events

  • Ensuring the mission of EFLI is represented at each event

  • Ground support at events to help the event run smoothly

  • Developing innovative ways to fundraise


EFLI’s Youth Ambassador Internship is a brand new for the 2017-18 school year. If you are interested in learning more about the inner workings of a non-profit organization, receive community service hours and/or get work experience in program planning, organizational development, marketing, management and administration, the internship is for you!

This committee requires the highest level of commitment, members of this committee will be required to spend at least four hours per week in the EFLI office, excluding holiday weeks. These hours are a guideline. They are flexible and can be used throughout the year for specific events/programs as needed.

  • YAB is open to all past EFLI participants
  • Applicants must be committed to the mission of EFLI and able to attend 6 of the 8 YAB monthly meetings, in addition to events

DATES: YAB runs throughout the academic year from October through June. Meetings are held monthly, with additional meetings amongst committees and task-forces. The first YAB Meeting will be an overnight retreat from October 14-15 (tentative).
